Do you dream of growing your own fresh fruits, veggies, herbs, and flowers in your own backyard (or patio, or balcony, or...)? Do you already have a small garden but want to do more with it? There are many factors which determine whether your garden is bountiful or a bust. In this workshop, students will learn the basics of gardening in south Florida, from soup to nuts. Info topics include basics like site selection, watering and irrigation, soil vs container growing, seed starting, fertilizers, pest and disease management, seasonality and scheduling, as well as some more advanced tips on plant spacing and intercropping, pruning, appropriate harvest techniques, and succession planting.
The workshop includes an hour lunch break. Please bring your your lunch, or else grab bite from one of the many restaurants within walking distance!
